Coral Springs: Fourth of July celebration. Entertainment begins at 6 p.m. and includes bounce houses and music. There will be a nominal fee for kids’ craft activities, food and refreshments. Davie: Vista View Fourth of July Fireworks Viewing. Everyone knows that when it comes to watching fireworks displays, the higher up you are the better. That’s why the park has become a popular spot for Fourth of July fireworks viewing over the past several years. The park’s hill, at 65 feet above sea level, is the highest manmade elevation in South Florida. Last year, more than a thousand people took in the fireworks from atop the hill, and this year promises to be no different. Depending on weather conditions, visitors may be able to see the displays from Davie, Miramar, Pembroke Pines, Plantation, Sunrise and possibly even Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood. Most of these pyrotechnics are scheduled to begin at 9 p.m., but you’re welcome to bring lawn chairs or blankets and come early to get a good spot. The park opens at 8 a.m., and the entry fee is good for admission all day — present your receipt for reentry. Admission before 7:30 p.m. will be the park’s regular weekend and holiday gate entrance fee of $1.50 per person (children 5 and younger are free). The price will go up to $2 per person at 7:30 p.m. You are also welcome to bring your own refreshments, although no hard liquor and no glass containers are allowed. Parking is on a first-come, first-served basis, and no fireworks (including sparklers), grilling or horses will be permitted in the park. Lauderdale-by-the-Sea: Fourth of July Celebration. As always, this year’s event, presented by the city’s Volunteer Fire Department, begins with a parade at 10 a.m. on Bougainvillea Drive (behind Town Hall, 4501 N. Ocean Drive), heading north to Pine Avenue, east to El Mar Drive, south to Palm Avenue and then west to Bougainvillea before heading north and ending at Town Hall. Jimmy Stowe and the Stowaways (Jimmy Buffet tribute band) will entertainment at 7 p.m. The July 4th celebration will feature rides, slides and games. Wristbands may be purchased for $10. In addition, there will be volleyball, cornhole and bass fishing tournaments 1-8 p.m. A Food Truck invasion consists of over 20 gourmet food trucks selling delectible treats. Coral Gables Fourth of July Celebration: This year’s event will include patriotic anthems by the Greater Miami Symphonic Band. CBS4 news anchor Rick Folbaum will be the master of ceremonies. Golf course greens open to the public at 5 p.m., and the concert begins at 7 p.m. The fireworks show begins at 9 pm. Homestead: Race to the 4th Annual Independence Day Bash: Some of the highlights include music, food trucks and kids’ activities. Main Highway and Above the Skyline will be rocking the track. Also, a limited number of $20 tickets for guests 13 years old and up for the Champions Club event will be available for purchase at the City of Homestead Parks and Recreation Department (350 SE Sixth Ave.). The tickets include VIP parking inside the stadium and food and soft drinks served inside the Club, which offers a preferred view of the fireworks from above. Miami: America’s Birthday Bash. The park is open all day for lots of fun. Free yoga takes place 9 a.m. at the Tina Hills Pavilion. Miami Beach: Grand Funk Railroad headlines this rockin’ Fourth party. Here is the schedule: Green Monkey Yoga on the Beach at 9 a.m. Food trucks are open for business at 11 a.m. DJ starts spinning at noon. Later, Family Stone opens at 5 p.m., and then Grand Funk Railroad performs at 7:30 p.m. Fireworks commence at 9 p.m. Free shuttle info: two park and ride locations where drop-off/pick-up will be taking place are North Shore Bandshell Park and 42nd Street/Sheridan Ave. The shuttles may be flagged down at any MDT stop along this route.
